Personal Photos

There have been a lot of postings on this blog about half-naked woman lately but I wanted to assure you that I have been photographing other things as well! Here is a couple of photos of Little K getting ready for bed last night. I think that her hair looks a little "flock of seagull"-like in these.

We have been having some amazing sunsets lately and the view from the studio is incredible! Here is an image of one from last week.

More Weekend Boudoir

I love it when my clients get creative with these shoots! This bride wanted some photos that incorporated her fiancé's precious car, the car that she refers to as the second wife!

Weekend Boudoir

Here are some of my favourite photos of a beautiful bride who I photographed this past weekend at the studio. Isn't she beautiful?! The fabulous Megan Pais did her make-up. I work with Megan on all of my boudoir marathon days.

Recent Boudoir Feedback

I wanted to post some recent feedback that I received from a bride who I did boudoir portraits for this past weekend.

Her first email on Monday morning was:

Hi Jessica,
I just wanted to say thank you for Saturday. We had a great time. I have never felt more comfortable or at ease in front of the camera. It was like spending an afternoon with your closest friend.
Thank you for a great time. I can hardly wait to see the pictures!

And then this morning when she saw her photos, I received this message:

Hey Jessica!! The bestest photographer EVER!!!

All I could do was scream !! The pictures are even better then I thought they would be. I look beautiful, I can hardly believe it is me!

Later her friend, who I also photographed on Saturday, wrote me this:

She spoke for both of us when she said we truly had an AMAZING time! Seriously, I never thought I could say that I had fun while stipping to my smalls infront of a camera but I'm so proud of myself! It's truly a skill to make people feel completely comfortable in their skin while doing what you do best.....Thanks a million.

I love my clients and because of this, I love my job!

Mark + Amanda + Camryn

On Sunday I photographed one of the greatest little families ever! Mark and Amanda are an awesome couple: they are super sweet and are truly some of the most genuine people that I have ever met. I was very excited to meet their little girl Camryn and to photograph them all as a family! We met at Allen Gardens in Toronto to do the session and wandered around the greenhouses and surrounding area. It is amazing how much of a variety you can get for portraits in such a small area. It was very hard for me to narrow down just a few of my favourite images from their session to post, so here is a whole bunch!

Meet Sarah

I had the pleasure of photographing Ms. Sarah this past weekend. We had originally met in 2006 when Sarah was a bridesmaid in Becky + Dan's wedding. Sarah is an actor and was looking to get some new headshots done to further her along in her career. For the portrait session we worked in threes with three outfit changes and three different backdrop colours.

Joseph & Hannah's B'nai Mitzvah Party

Last weekend I had the pleasure of photographing Joseph and Hannah's wild B'nai Mitzvah party that took place at the Great Hall in Toronto which is one of my favourite venues in the city! Joseph and Hannah have gone to school together for the majority of their lives and have always been great friends so they decided to hold one big party together to celebrate their journey into adulthood. The party had a lot of different elements that made it fun including a sushi booth during cocktails and feather boas for the kids to dress up in. B'nai Mitzvahs are always a lot of fun to photograph; the energy of them is always so great since there seems to always be kids running around everywhere.

The photo that Hannah is hold is one that Joseph's Mom, Debra Friedman, took a few years ago of them. The photo was incorporated in the invite for the night so we had to take a portrait with it!

Joseph's little brother and Hannah's little sister gave a speech about their older siblings. It was adorable!

The Moms & Dads watch on.

Joseph's Bar Mitzvah

One of the hardest things for a photographer is photographing an event for another photographer. This becomes especially difficult when you are photographing the event not only for your old University professor but also your thesis mentor, basically the woman who taught you how to photograph people. On Thursday I had this task when I photographed Joseph's bar mitzvah rehearsal. Joe is the son of the lovely and very talented Robert Burley and Debra Friedman. The ceremony was held at the Beaches Synagogue in Toronto. As I arrived there was a fabulous sky so I forced Joseph to head outside for a few portraits before the rehearsal began! Stayed tuned for images from the reception that was held on Saturday.

Baby Portraits

I photographed this little cutie in the studio a couple of weeks ago. Her Mom had contacted me wanting some portraits of her at six months old that resembled ones taken of her siblings when they were the same age. I love her big brown eyes!

Wendy + Ben

On Wednesday I met Wendy + Ben at University of Toronto to do an engagement portrait session. These two are getting married at the end of December so it was about time that we did the session! We had some fun wandering around the campus, stopping here and there for photos. Although it was fairly windy out, the weather was fabulous and it was hard to believe that it was the end of October! Wendy + Ben are a fabulous couple and I can tell that they have a lot of fun together. I cannot wait to photograph their wedding!
