Boudoir :: Just for Her!

When this woman contacted me to book a boudoir session I was very excited. In her email she told me that this session was purely for herself. Many of the woman that I have photographed boudoir for have expressed this to me but have always used their fiancés at an excuse for having the portraits done. This woman was straight up in saying that she wanted some beautiful photos of herself for herself. I loved it!

Fall Portraits

It has been quite a while since we had a proper portrait session with my niece. Here are some of my favourites images that I took a couple of weeks ago in the studio.

Over Thanksgiving weekend my sister and Mom knit this adorable sweater for Katerra. Of course my Mom had to then make a matching hat!

Katerra's favourite buddy is Ellie the Elephant. Abby wanted to get some photos of them together but of course Little K had to hold him upside down for this one!

New Boudoir!

I am very excited to be posting these photos because this bride is hot! Last weekend I photographed her at my studio. The photos are for her future hubby as a wedding gift which she will give to him while they are in the Carribbean tying the knot. The love Dorota Buczel did her make-up and I always love working with her!

Valerie + Gary :: October 13th, 2007

Valerie + Gary's wedding took place on a perfect autumn day. The weather was a little chilly but the sky was clouded over which made it great for outdoor portraits! There were two "firsts" for me at Valerie + Gary's wedding: 1) I locked my keys in the car right at the beginning of my day after I arrived at Valerie's house! Luckily I had popped my trunk so was able to gracefully crawl through it to get to the keys and 2) I drove a golf cart which was fun, although I am pretty sure that my assistant thought that she was going to die! Valerie + Gary's ceremony took place at the cute Leaside United Church in Toronto. We then headed to the Dundas Valley Golf Club for the formal photos and reception. The view from the Club is absolutely stunning! Congratulations Valerie + Gary!

One of Valerie's bridesmaids was Catherine who's wedding I photographed three years ago. Catherine just had her second daughter a mere week before Valerie's wedding and she was still able to participate in the big day! Catherine, you are amazing!

When the flowergirls walked down the aisle for the ceremony they handed out roses to the guests sitting in the aisle seats. Then when Valerie and her father walked down, the guests held up the roses so it made an arch to them to walk through!

There were a few tears from Valerie during the ceremony. Emotions like this always make for good photos!

This flowergirl thought Valerie's crying was pretty funny!

Since Valerie + Gary are members of the Dundas Valley Golf Club they know all of the locals who hang around there. They just had to have a photo with these characters!

Their amazing DJ also sang throughout dinner. For one of the songs, the groomsmen all got up to join in.

The most special moment of Valerie + Gary's wedding was probably when he surprised her by announcing that he would play/sing a song for his new wife in front of everyone! It was fabulous!

Thanksgiving Weekend

Ontario is such an amazing province, especially in the autumn. The landscape is so beautiful and it is incredible how much it can vary. On Thanksgiving weekend we went to my Mom's fabulous house which is just north of Brighton. We later drove West to Guelph, taking highway 2 as far as we could.

Annie + Scott :: October 5th, 2007

I really like Annie + Scott. They are such a fun couple! I knew that I would like them when Annie suggested that our initial meeting take place in Kensington Market which is one of my favourite neighbourhoods in Toronto. This meeting took place a mere month before their ceremony so I knew that I was dealing with a pretty laidback couple. Their wedding took place at the fabulous and elegant Eglinton Grand. This venue is known for putting on very classy events; they do everything just right! Congratulations Annie + Scott!

Annie's Mom made her beautiful dress...

On the underside, she sewed in a few surprises! I loved the little charms but my favourite was definitely the Care Bear.

Annie's sister's dress was gorgeous!

Scott's Dad was the bagpiper for their wedding which made it very special.

Their cake topper was hilarious and very fitting for their personalities!

At the Eglinton Grand the cocktails take place at the upper balcony. There are heavy curtains that block the view of the dining area. Once it is time for everyone to be seated for the meal, loud music starts up and the curtains opened, revealing the beautiful setting.

Sherri + Kevin

When Sherri contacted me a couple of months ago about doing a "Trash the Dress" post-wedding portrait session I was super excited! We talked about our ideas and finally came up with a plan to do the session. Of course, since I was in the midst of the hectic wedding season, we had to wait until September 30th to do the session. Now this is autumn in Ontario so normally it is a little bit chilly by then but we got lucky and it was fairly warm outside. We had a lot of fun wandering around seeking out locations for shooting just waiting until the perfect time for the setting sun! I absolutely love doing these portrait sessions!

Deborah Ann + Mark :: September 29th, 2007

Deborah Ann + Mark's wedding took place on September 29th. It was an beautiful autumn day with hardly a cloud in sight. We began the day at the Kingbridge Centre in King City where both of them and their parties were getting dressed. The ceremony and reception was then held at the Doctor's House in Kleinburg. I love the little chapel there and the dining room has such a cozy feeling. Mark's Dad grew big sage plants as the centrepieces. There were also little thyme and rosemary plants as the wedding favours which I thought was pretty special. Congratulations Deborah Ann + Mark!

Mark gave his groomsmen these lovely briefcases as a gift. At one point, it seemed as though everything was about the briefcases!

Both Deborah Ann and Mark's grandmothers stood up to speak together. It was adorable!

Neena + James :: September 22nd, 2007

Neena and James are originally from Toronto but now reside in Florida so they have the difficult task of planning their wedding from afar. A few months ago I had met Neena but did not meet James until their wedding ceremony. As soon as I saw them together I just knew that they were meant to be. You can tell that they absolutely adore one another and it is also obvious that they are the best of friends which is so important. They had a great wedding party and we had a lot of fun wandering around downtown Toronto to do the formal portraits. Their ceremony took place at the beautiful St. Clare of Assisi Cathedral in Woodbridge and their reception was at Copper Creek Golf Club in Kleinburg. The fall colours were just starting to show that weekend. Congratulations Neena & James!

How cute is James?! After placing the ring on Neena's finger, he gave her a little kiss.

The kind people at the Bier Markt allowed us inside do some photos!

I thought that the bridesmaids dresses were super cute!

Their niece was SOOOO adorable!

As you all know, I am completely in love with my baby niece Katerra. I am pretty that Neena feels the same about her's!

In between courses during dinner, the band had everyone up and dancing!

As I left the wedding there was this beautiful sunset.

She is a kid!

I cannot believe how big my niece Katerra is getting. She is such a kid! She runs all over the place now. Last weekend she pointed at me and said, "Aunt". I am not kidding! She even has her own Cabbage Patch Kid that she pushes around in her kid-sized stroller.

Abby and Katerra are such buddies!

This photo absolutely kills me! Here is Katerra doing what she does best - relaxing. I love the little cat slippers and of course her huge belly poking out!

This was Little K being sneaky and reaching into my camera bag.

My talented sister

For the past couple of weeks my very talented sister has been painting a mural at St. Alban's Boys & Girls Club on Palmerston Avenue in Toronto. On Friday I was finally able to scoot over to see all of her beautiful work. She incorporated hand prints from the kids who go to the Club which I thought was a fantastic idea! I am very proud of you, Abby - your mural is beautiful!
