Carol + Will :: August 25th, 2007

On August 25th I photographed the wedding of Carol and Will. Their ceremony took place at the gorgeous Knox Chapel at the University of Toronto and the reception was held at the Golden Court Abalone Restaurant in Richmond Hill. Our original plan for the wedding party photos was to wander around the St. Lawrence Market area but since there was a seventy percent chance of thunderstorms, we decided to play it safe by getting a permit for Union Station. Carol and Will are a very sweet couple. I love the way that they look at each other and the way that they laugh together. Congratulations Carol and Will!

After the ceremony, Carol and Will had arranged for an icecream cart filled with treats for their guests. I love how Will helped Carol with hers!

The groomsmen were a lot of fun to work with!

I was a first disappointed when I saw that the skywalk was covered in banners but then we decided to use them to our advantage!

There was some sort of anime or comic convention at the MTCC that weekend so the area was filled with crazy fans dressed up as their favourite characters!

As centrepieces, Carol & Will had photos of themselves at the age of the table number. I love this idea!

Before most of the guests arrived at the reception, there was a tea ceremony held.

Fun Boudoir!

On Sunday, August 19th, I held a boudoir marathon at my studio in Toronto. By the end of the day, I had photographed six separate sessions with six lovely ladies! It was a lot of fun to see what outfits and accessories they would bring to show their personalities and style. My last session was with a woman who took a different spin on the boudoir session. She brought along a variety of outfits that were more like fun costumes. It was a great way to finish up the day!

I have another boudoir marathon session coming up on Sunday, October 21st!! Please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like to book a session on this day.

Meet the Hall Family

Last week I went to the Hall's home to do some family portraits since their daughter was in town for a few days visiting from Banff. I adore doing family portraits as they are usually a lot of fun. The Halls did not disappoint me one bit and the session was full of lots of laughter!

We had to include their black lab, Cleo in a few photos!

I asked them to be candid and hang out in the kitchen "like they normally do" - ha!

Karen + Paul :: August 18th, 2007

Karen and Paul seriously love each other and it is so beautiful to see. Their wedding was an absolute dream for me to photograph. Karen was glowing; all done up and in her gown. I was told that she has not worn a dress in four years and I found it hard to believe because it just seemed so natural on her. Their wedding took place at the The Manor on Bayview and it was stunning! The Manor is a great location for an intimate and classy wedding. Both the ceremony and reception took place in the enclosed area behind the main building and it really allowed you to escape from the city. The best part of the reception was that it was under the open sky as no tent was needed. I loved it and it really allowed me to get some great candids of the guests with natural light. Congratulations Karen and Paul! You two are truly made for one another.

Karen had the sweetest shoes ever!

I loved that Karen's Dad looked over at her as he walked her down the aisle.

The ceremony was filled with lots of laughter!

Karen's Mom and her siblings were absolutely hilarious!

Uncle Whitey offered lots of marriage advice throughout the evening!

Normally I do not post more embarassing photos on my blog but I had to post this sequence of photos because I found it so hilarious! I'm sure he won't mind!

What better way to end the night then with a congo line?!

Hey there, blue eyes!

On Friday I had a boudoir session in the studio with a woman who has the bluest eyes ever!! She wanted these photos to give to her husband for their third anniversary. The gift for the third anniversary is traditionally leather so she plans to put them in a beautiful leather album.

Cynthia + Dustin :: August 11th, 2007

On July 25th, Cynthia and Dustin got married on white sand and under the hot sun of St. Lucia. Unfortunately I was not there with them! However, I was at the reception that they held on the evening of August 11th. It was a celebration of their marriage with all of their friends and family who did not make it to their intimate Carribean wedding.

In the afternoon of that day I had photographed another wedding and was able to go to their reception to get a couple of hours of candids. The reception was awesome! It was held at a private residence in the Bluffs of Toronto. The backyard had a fabulous view of the Lake and was adorned with flowers and candles. It created a real ambiance to the space. Cynthia and Dustin chose a retro theme with all retro-style food and a big candy table where guests could fill their own jars with whatever sweets their hearts desired! The reception also included a performance by a celtic band (with a very special accordian player!), a congo line, lots of dancing and laughing as well as a screening of the actual wedding ceremony. I have no doubt that everyone present had a lot of fun! Congratulations Cynthia & Dustin!

Jenny & Craig are having a baby!

Jenny and Craig are having their first baby very soon! Jenny is due next week. The room is ready and the crib is made, just waiting for their little guy to come! On Sunday I met with them to do a portrait session in their home. It was a little rainy out so we stuck mostly indoors for the photography.

Brenda & Chris are having a baby!

I had four different photography shoots this past weekend - two weddings and two maternity portrait sessions. It was pretty hectic but a lot of fun! I wanted to jump ahead and show some images from the last shoot that I had this weekend I hope my other clients don't mind but I had to do this for two reasons:

1) August 13th was Brenda & Chris' Second Anniversary! I was honoured to photograph their wedding in Vancouver two years ago and I can hardly believe how quickly the time has flown. Happy Anniversary, you guys!

2) The second reason that I had to post these photos right away is that in less than one week, Brenda and Chris will be graced with their first child!

I am very excited for them. Brenda and Chris are great people who have really helped me over the years with my photography since both of them are fabulous photographers themselves. It has been fun watching Brenda's belly grow over the past nine months and I can hardly wait to meet their li'l guy/gal that is just waiting to see this world!

Home on the Farm

This past weekend was my last one free of any photography shoots for two months! I took advantage of the time off and headed to my Mom's place near Brighton. On Sunday we spent the afternoon at my brother-in-law's family farm near Lakefield for a big pig roast in celebration of his sister's recent wedding. Nothing is more peaceful then spending an afternoon with wonderful people in a place that simply feels like home.

Little K's First Birthday!

I do not want you thinking that I have been neglecting my little niece, Katerra, as of late. I know that it has been a while since I have posted any new images of her. A couple of weeks ago we celebrated Katerra's first birthday! It is amazing how quickly time flies! It has been so special watching her grow into her own person in the past twelve months and I am looking forward to being a part of that continuing growth. A couple of days after her birthday, my sister, Abby, and I set up a special photo shoot for the little lady. I have not been able to post the images until now as we created hilarious thank you cards to send to everyone who came to her party and we wanted to keep the photos a surprise. Now that the cards have been delivered, I can FINALLY post these for you to see! Happy Birthday Katerra Shenzira!

This hair barrette lasted for about one photo before Little K pulled it out!

Katerra's Great-Aunt Nancy always calls her Princess Katerra Shenzira. It was only appropriate for her to then buy her a tiara for her first birthday!

Katerra was also spoiled with this new Roca Wear jean outfit from her "Aunt" Bethany!

The messy cake eating/destroying begins!

Almost immediately Katerra's left foot was in the cake. She kept lifting it up and looking at it. Don't tell Auntie Em that Katerra was wearing her new gold bangles in this mess! ;)

A bird's eye view of the leftover mess.

Heather + Philip :: July 21st, 2007

Here is a connection: Alec is a friend of mine. Last summer I photographed his sister, Becky, and Dan's wedding. Alec is married to Abby. Abby is the sister of Heather. On Saturday, July 21st, Heather married Philip and I had the pleasure of photographing it! Their ceremony took place at the Murray Street Baptist Church in Peterborough. We then headed to Trent University for the posed photos and reception. Heather and Philip met while attending Trent so it was only fitting that they have their wedding there! The campus was a great location for the photos with it's mix of strong structures and lush greens. Congratulations Heather & Philip!

Heather had a gorgeous long veil that blew perfectly against the blue sky.

Heather and Philip had a big wedding party with eight on each side. We had a lot of fun doing the photos!

I love Heather's reaction when she walked down the aisle to Philip!

Here is Abby and Alec walking down the aisle!

Even the guys had some sass in them!

Here is Heather with her sisters. Aren't they all gorgeous?!

Can you tell that they are brothers?!

Here is Abby & Alec's little boy, Aiden. I hadn't seen him since last summer at his Aunt's wedding. He is becoming quite the little man!
