Baby Portraits in the Studio

Baby Katerra is the perfect age of six months. She sits well on her own and smiles "on command". She makes for a great little model!

This one is for her Dad. He is going to have to watch it when Katerra gets older - all of the boys are going to be chasing her!

Nancy & Dale's Wedding :: January 20th, 2007

On Saturday I photographed Nancy and Dale's wedding at the beautiful Park Hyatt Hotel on Avenue Road. The overall theme for their wedding was elegance. Nancy wore pearls with her gorgeous strapless dress and Dale looked handsome in his tux. White lilies were the flower of choice and they appeared everywhere from the ceremony to the cocktail reception to the dinner. Nancy and Dale had two of the cutest flower girls who threw rose petals as the couple sealed their vows with a kiss. A terrific wedding planner named Sharon Payton of Payton's Planning organized the event and DJ Neil Livingston, better known as DJ Scootz, kept everyone entertained with his great music selection. Congratulations Nancy & Dale!

New Boudoir Photos

On Sunday I shot a boudoir portrait session for a bride in her home. We had a lot of fun doing the shoot! Already I have received some feedback from the bride: "Let me just say first of all, you are extremely talented and I am happy to recommend you to anyone I can. I had such a good time on Sunday and you made me feel completely comfortable."

Julia & Blair Engagement Photos!

It is finally winter in Toronto! We have snow on the ground and the temperature has dropped below zero celsius. On Sunday morning I met Julia & Blair at the outdoor ice rink at Harbourfront Centre to do their engagment photos. Julia is a special person to me whom I have known for a number of years. I remember when her and Blair first started dated and I have watched their relationship grow since then. They now have their own house and are getting married in February! Julia was particularily giggly for the shoot and it was hard to get both of them to look at the camera but they had absolutely no troubles looking at each other! I cannot wait to photograph their wedding!

My sister has style!

My sister Abby has great style. She can basically wear anything and somehow manages to pull if off while looking absolutely fabulous. I met her for breakfast yesterday and it was not until we were getting our coats on to leave that I noticed IT. IT was the rat-tail!! A single narrow braid hanging at the back of her head. I had to laugh and she asked, "What?", as though everything was perfectly normal. Abby then informed me that the rat-tail is for "long life" so perhaps we should all be sporting one. Love you sister!

Fifth Anniversary Book Club

On Monday I photographed a fabulous group of ladies who have been meeting monthly for the last five years to discuss books over wine and great food. I originally met them in 2004 at Suzanne & Brad's wedding. I then met Melody again this past summer at her sister Kristy's wedding. In the fall she approached me, asking if I would come to a book club gathering to do a fifth anniversary portrait. I was looking forward to see the ladies again - they are a hilarious bunch of women who talk nonstop!

Latest Boudoir Session

On Sunday I photographed a boudoir session of a lovely bride who is getting married very soon. It was a pretty sneaky adventure for her as she travelled to Toronto by train from practically the other side of the province just to do the shoot. For a location, she chose to rent a room at the gorgeous and classy Royal York Hotel. The photographs are to be a wedding gift for her fiance. I hope that he loves them!

Becky & Chris' Wedding :: January 6th, 2007

This past Saturday was my first wedding of 2007. You would hardly know that it was January in Toronto because the weather was so unusually warm. I am sure that when Becky and Chris began planning their big day they had hoped for a lovely snowy winter wedding As a kid I remember there always being a big snowstorm during this first week back after the holidays and school would be cancelled for at least a day.

When I was first asked about photographing Becky & Chris' wedding, a man named Jim called me. He sounded very mysterious on the phone, asking me a ton of details about the services that I offer which was making me wonder just who I was speaking to. Finally he just came out and said who he really was, "Well actually, I am the man of honour." I loved it! Apparently everyone else that he told this to had laughed and basically the conversations had ended there. My response was, "Great, let's set up a meeting so that you and Becky can see my portfolios."

Upon first meeting of Becky and her man of honour, I was really looking forward to photographing the wedding. I was also looking forward to meeting the groom Chris who had left his fiance and the man of honour in charge, as well as her parents who live in my hometown of Port Hope. Both the ceremony and reception took place at the Old Mill in Toronto. The ceremony was a beautiful candlelit one. At dusk we took some photographs outside in the courtyard before the reception began. There were many personal touches that made their wedding extra special including the favours which were mittens knit by Becky's Mom and cookies baked by Chris' Dad. Congratulations to Becky & Chris!

Becky's "something blue" were her initials that her Mom stitched on the inside of her dress.

Beautiful Day

It is hard to believe that it is winter in Toronto. The sun was out, the skies were blue and it was warm. Abby and Little K came up to help me with some office work and of course we had to take a few photos.
