Reena's Mehndi :: September 23rd

I had never met Reena until I went on Saturday to photograph her mehndi at her family home in Missisauga. We have been emailing each other discussing the details of her wedding since the beginning of the year. When we actually met in person, I felt as though I was seeing a long-time friend. Reena and her family are some of the warmest and friendliest people that I have ever met. I had a great time photographing the mehndi and it made me look forward to photographing the actual wedding ceremony that took place on Sunday even more.

Gina & Pauline's Wedding :: September 22nd, 2006

On Friday, September 21st I photographed the intimate wedding of Gina & Pauline. Their ceremony took place at the Chapel at Hart House and their reception was held at the elegant La Maquette on King Street. Gina and Pauline are a very cute couple and were all smiles as they got ready for the official union of their relationship. Instead of a traditional bouquet, Gina opted for a gorgeous armband made of orchids. Congratulations Gina & Pauline!

Millbrook, Ontario

The great thing about travelling all over the province to photograph weddings is the fabulous places that I get to visit. Arriving early for our wedding in Millbrook on September 9th, my assistant and I took advantage of the oppportunity to drive down a couple of dirt roads to take some photos. The sky was a moody one, allowing for even lighting and vibrant colours.

Stephanie & Charlotte's Wedding :: September 21st, 2006

I was lucky enough to have photographed the wedding of two lovely ladies yesterday. Stephanie and Charlotte are a gorgeous couple full of laughter and fun! Charlotte's family travelled all the way from the Netherlands to take part in the big day. The wedding was organized by Joanne at Sorbet Event and it could have not been more perfect! Their intimate ceremony took place in the beautiful Toronto Necropolis Chapel located on Winchester Street. We did portraits of the couple in the surrounding neighbourhood, including Riverdale Farms which is conveniently across the street from the Chapel. Congratulations to the newlyweds!

Jordan & Shawn's Wedding :: September 9th, 2006

Jordan and Shawn's wedding was a very special event that I feel honoured to have been asked to photograph. Not only was it the celebration of the union of the two of them, but it was also the celebration of the union of their family which includes Shawn's four amazing children. It was such a fabulous day! The event took place in Millbrook at an old church that has since been converted into the King Street Centre for the Arts. Jordan wore a gorgeous custom blue raw silk dress and her bridesmaids wore matching floral printed dresses. All of the formal photos were taken before the ceremony so that there was plenty of time for me to take candids of the cocktail hour. During the ceremony their parents, the kids and the bride and groom each planted a shoot of bamboo to signify their new family. At the end of the ceremony the wedding party danced down the aisle to Stevie Wonder. The love between Jordan and Shawn is so great - you could see it in their eyes every time that they looked at each other. There is something truly special between them that most of us only hope to find in our own lives. Congratulations to you both!

New Boudoir Portraits

Today I did a boudoir photography session with a bride. The session took place in her home in Hamilton. The photographs are for her lucky fiance as a gift for their wedding which is a mere six weeks away! She was a little nervous at first but by the end of the shoot, we were having fun!

Katerra & Chanel

Today Katerra, Chanel and their Moms came to visit me at the studio. Katerra is now seven weeks old while Chanel is fifteen weeks. Chanel is obviously the mature baby: every time little Katerra cried, Chanel had the most concerned look on her face! She worries when her little buddy is not happy. It is so fun to watch them grow.

On September 3rd I photographed Heather and Jordan's intimate wedding. The wedding took place at the Doctor's House in Kleinburg. The ceremony was held in the cute chapel on-site and the family then had a brunch to celebrate the newlyweds. Luckily the rain held off and we managed to get some great photographs in the gorgeous gardens! Congratulations Heather & Jordan!

Parry Sound

Although I do enjoy living in the city, I will still always be a small town girl at heart. Growing up in Port Hope really shaped certain values in my life. When I was a kid, my family went camping pretty much every weekend of the summer, usually travelling to Presqu'ile Provincial Park in Brighton. I probably feel most at ease when I am in nature. Lately, while the weather is nice, I have been grabbing any chance that I can to head up to Parry Sound. There is something truly special about that place - with all of its rock, fresh air and big skies - that allow you to realize how lucky we all are to be in this beautiful world.

Brides Gone Wild at the CNE!

On Thursday my friend Heather organized a very fun photo shoot at the CNE. She managed to get together four photographers, four brides, one groom, the lovely Laura at Glow Make-up and the lovely Samirah at Designs in Bloom to do the flowers. The night went very well and we managed to draw quite crowd everywhere that we went. The highlight of the shoot had to have been when we had three brides spinning around on the swing ride - it was hilarious!
