One of my favourite photographers,
Chris Buck, is giving a lecture tonight at Ryerson University. He is a Ryerson graduate who moved to New York in the '90's to photograph the likes of Donald Trump, Ewan McGregor, Chuck D, along with many other fabulous celebrities and musicians. I like his approach to photographing people. I like how he throws you for a loop when you see one of his images of your favourite celebrity; although they seem to be true portrayals of the subjects, there is always something a little "off" in his portraits. Last time that I heard him speak was a couple of years ago during
CONTACT and he came out on stage wearing big red clown shoes. It was amazing. He has a great attitude when approaching photographing all of Hollywood's best and never does he let it get to the good of him; he always remains a laidback, honest and true guy and I completely respect that. There is an
article in today's Globe & Mail about him.
